PS1's Most Valuable Games: Two Regions, Two Different Lists
Most PS1 games are cheap. A few are worth hundreds, mostly in America.

Most PS1 games sell for under £30 used. The most valuable ones that sell often are worth £250 to £500 in America, and most are lesser-known games. The UK/PAL list is lower and full of familiar names, with one big exception: Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.
Cheap, but not as cheap as PS2
The original PlayStation sold in huge numbers, and most of its games still sell for little. The price guide behind MyPlayersVault shows how the used prices spread out in each region.
| Region | PS1 games priced | Under £10 | £10 to £30 | £30 to £50 | Over £50 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| UK/PAL | 1,477 | 37% | 42% | 10% | 11% |
| NTSC-U | 1,307 | 36% | 41% | 10% | 13% |
| NTSC-J | 1,589 | 29% | 50% | 11% | 10% |
Used (complete in box) price guide values from MyPlayersVault, 16 October 2026. Special editions and accessories left out.
In the UK, close to four in ten PAL games are worth under £10. On PS2 it's six in ten, as our PS2 guide shows. And about one PS1 game in ten is worth over £50 in every region.
How we picked the games
A game can look valuable just because it almost never sells, so one odd sale sets its price. We wanted games people actually buy and sell. So we only looked at PS1 games that sell often in the price guide, then took the ten most valuable used copies in UK/PAL and in NTSC-U. We also checked each price against two months ago, to make sure no single odd sale was behind it.
The ten most valuable: NTSC-U

Today's prices for four of them
Castlevania in both regions, side by side, plus the top game on the NTSC-U list and Silent Hill. These cards update every day with the same prices you'll see on MyPlayersVault.
MyPlayersVault also uses recent eBay sales, so these can differ from the price guide figures above.
What the lists tell us
- Not one game is on both lists. On PS2, five games made the top ten in both regions. On PS1, the two lists are completely different.
- America's list is far higher. Every game in the NTSC-U top ten is worth more used than every UK/PAL game except one. The tenth NTSC-U game, at £253, is worth more than the second UK/PAL game, Silent Hill, at £164.
- America's list is full of lesser-known names. Tron Bonne, Tail Concerto, Shadow Tower and Koudelka are not household names, and Persona appears twice. The UK/PAL list is mostly games people remember: Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Diablo and Grand Theft Auto.
- Castlevania is the big exception. A used PAL copy of Symphony of the Night is worth £404. In our region guide, the NTSC-U copy was £148. It has also risen from £308 over the last two months.
- Sealed is a different level. A sealed Tail Concerto is worth £1078, and a sealed PAL Castlevania £1050. Sealed PAL copies of Grand Theft Auto: Collectors' Edition and Resident Evil Director's Cut are worth more than four times a used one. Our guide to sealed vs used explains why.
- Most held steady. Over two months, most of these prices moved only a little. Legend of Dragoon in the UK rose from £73 to £104, while Shadow Tower in America fell from £478 to £409.
What MyPlayersVault makes of them
MyPlayersVault gives every game it analyses a Vault Score and a tier. In America, Elemental Gearbolt has the top tier, SOVEREIGN ORPHAN. In the UK, Silent Hill, Tombi, Legend of Dragoon and Resident Evil Director's Cut have S-TIER GHOST, the next tier down. The other games on these lists don't have a tier yet. Open any game on MyPlayersVault to see its latest score.
Before you buy or sell
- Check the region. On PS1 the same game can be worth very different amounts in UK/PAL and NTSC-U, and not always in the same direction. See our guide to how region affects value.
- Check it's complete. These prices are for complete in box copies. A missing manual or a cracked case will bring the value down.
- Watch for fakes. The more a game is worth, the more it's worth checking the disc, the case and the seller before you pay.
